چکیده

We consider the Schrödinger-Poisson system in the attractive (plasma physics) Coulomb case. Given a steady state from a certain class we prove its nonlinear stability, using an appropriately defined energy-Casimir functional as Lyapunov function. To obtain such steady states we start with a given Casimir functional and construct a new functional which is in some sense dual to the corresponding energy-Casimir functional. This dual functional has a unique maximizer which is a steady state of the Schrödinger-Poisson system and lies in the stability class. The steady states are parametrized by the equation of state, giving the occupation probabilities of the quantum states as a strictly decreasing function of their energy levels. Existence and stability of Camm type steady states in galactic dynamics

We prove the existence and nonlinear stability of Camm type steady states of the Vlasov-Poisson system in the gravitational case. The paper demonstrates the effectiveness of an approach to the existence and stability problem for steady states, which was used in previous work by the authors: The steady states are obtained as minimizers of an energy-Casimir functional, and from this fact their dy...

Existence of steady states for the Maxwell-Schrödinger-Poisson system: exploring the applicability of the concentration-compactness principle

The concentration–compactness method is nowadays a basic tool in applied mathematics for the analysis of variational problems with lack of compactness or more specifically for proving existence of solutions of non-linear partial differential equations which are invariant under a group of transformations. In this review we explore the applicability of the concentration–compactness method on the ...

Stable Steady States in Stellar Dynamics

We prove the existence and nonlinear stability of steady states of the Vlasov-Poisson system in the stellar dynamics case. The steady states are obtained as minimizers of an energy-Casimir functional from which fact their dynamical stability is deduced. The analysis applies to some of the well-known polytropic steady states, but it also considerably extends the class of known steady states.

Global existence and nonlinear stability for the relativistic Vlasov-Poisson system in the gravitational case

As is well known from the work of R. Glassey and J. Schaeffer [5], the main energy estimates which are used in global existence results for the gravitational Vlasov-Poisson system do not apply to the relativistic version of this system, and smooth solutions to the initial value problem with spherically symmetric initial data of negative energy blow up in finite time. For similar reasons the var...

Existence of non-trivial solutions for fractional Schrödinger-Poisson systems with subcritical growth

In this paper, we are concerned with the following fractional Schrödinger-Poisson system:    (−∆s)u + u + λφu = µf(u) +|u|p−2|u|, x ∈R3 (−∆t)φ = u2, x ∈R3 where λ,µ are two parameters, s,t ∈ (0,1] ,2t + 4s > 3 ,1 < p ≤ 2∗ s and f : R → R is continuous function. Using some critical point theorems and truncation technique, we obtain the existence and multiplicity of non-trivial solutions with ...
